Photography planning
For my photography, I had an idea to shoot the main character of my film and possibly props from the film that I know look quite supernatural associated with witchcraft and magic. Some of these include a dagger, 'witchcraft' book, candles, a ring on the floor and possibly some sort of religious symbol.
Because most of the film posters that I looked at, they contained the main character I was certain that I wanted to feature that common aspect as it was a convention. I believe that the main character could help to identify the movie a lot better and capture the true essence of the storyline regarding mood, genre, hints of the topic and gives the viewer a quick idea of the characters personality.
Facial expression is a key aspect of the shots for my poster and magazine as it is a way to express the genre of my film and it creates a certain mood and provokes emotions that you want your audience to feel. Because it is quite a dark, negative, supernatural/horror movie I want anger and aggression or focus to be portrayed in my photos through frowns and scowls.
Lighting is a key feature as I also want to capture the darkness of the genre with a mildly lit setting. It creates the negative mood of the movie and character.
