Trailer Analysis
In the trailer Carrie (2013) there are many ways that the genre has been represented to the audience. The main sound that the audience hear is the screams. These are very vital as it makes the audience feel as if the can hear the screams and creates a feeling for the viewers. They may have used to screams to get the audience more involved in to the trailer. The sound of the students laughing could also be important as it goes with the screams and makes the viewers think about why the characters in the film which is an aspect of the trailer which also shows that they haven't given much of the story away in the trailer although the audience can assume what could possibly happen in the film. In the trailer we see that the girl that has been left out could be the main character as from previous experiences we know who the actress is.
The editing of this trailer has been used very carefully as you could see when the girl character, supposedly Carrie is going in to the room we see that the screen turns black and then we hear screams. The editors have perhaps done this to not give away the story of the film which could be relatable for us as an audience because if they give a lot of the story away in the trailer then people would not really be interested to go an watch the film. The mise en scene that we see in this film also tell us what genre the movie is which in this case is supernatural/horror. The blood that has been used also gives us as an idea of what the film is about therefore this leads on to the next scene in where we see a flying bed and from there we can see how she has got the powers which also tells about the genre.
There are also some excellent shots used in this film trailer, particularly in this trailer which is the cinematography of the film. The close up of the door shows us how she gets her powers which then becomes a climax of the trailer. The shot reverse shot from the mum and Carrie also shows the relationship they have between them and shows the audience how Carrie gets her powers as her mum reveals it to them. This is also part of the story which i think gives away too much of the story, however, this is a good trailer to analyse as it involves a lot of information.
